[He looks at the books in the fireplace dubiously and steps aside.] Yes. With our luck, the smoke detectors have also gone on the fritz and we'd die of smoke inhalation.
I said "failed". It was supposed to smell like apples, but something mixed wrong and I wound up with apple pie. Couldn't even get rid of it at the club!
[It's no secret that Rikku spends every other Friday at one of the local gay clubs.]
[And Artemis has no problems with his roommate being openly gay--he is from California, after all. But Artemis doesn't go to any club of any sort, and hasn't even really talked about girls or boys or anyone he finds interesting. But he can guess that if Rikku thinks he could have passed it off to someone who wanted to smell like pie, but couldn't, it must have been fairly caustic stuff.]
Are we waiting for it to tell us if the chimney's blocked? Is it so strange that it has an IQ?
Go forth, I will bravely start the fire. [He smirks and crouches down, holding the lighter under the corner of one of the school newspapers he picked up. Soon, the paper has caught fire and is spreading.]
[Rikku stops to watch for a second. Artemis is so pretty, so not Rikku's physical type, but...well, he really likes him. He hasn't even brought anyone back from the club or wherever else in a while.
And then he snaps out of it and starts building the fort]
[Artemis smiles, unaware of Rikku watching, and moves to help him. Shifting chairs, spreading a blanket here and there, and then crawls in to enjoy the fire.]
[Artemis snorts and rolls over a little so he can see Rikku.] You know I'd be absolutely awkward at a club. It would be the worst experience of my life, going to a social place when I'm so very... unsocial.
Those were receptions! After concerts! I'm allowed, and encouraged, to sound full of myself there. [He smirked and pushed one of the smaller throw pillows at Rikku.]
